bill forgets (how) to wash his hands

Bill is confused
Bill has forgotten how to wash his hands

he stares at the sink

(first his wife divorces him and now this)

he stares at the soap

(the divorce was confusing in and of itself
but this is just silly)

at least I can recognize that it’s silly
he thinks
and then Bill begins to reinvent handwashing:
run water
run
warm water
wet hands
lather with soap
scrub hard
allow three seconds for soap to activate
rinse

Bill thinks
I’ll never forget this
which is replaced by
I want to see my children
which in turn is replaced by
I want to play Spider Solitaire

Bill has gotten good at Spider Solitaire
